This was a blog that I ran from 2012 to 2019. It’s on hiatus at the moment and I may get back to it one day but for now, I just hope you enjoy my posts from the past.

I’m enjoying looking through your blog and seeing your perspective on fiction! 🙂
Hi Alastair,
Glad you liked my blog. Join the fun over at http://www.amazingstoriesmag.com too.
Hi John – I’m in! I’ll be blogging for Amazing Stories too – I’m looking forward to getting started.
Hey, that’s great.
Please contact me: I want to ask permission to quote …
Thanks
Peter
This phrase- “written by pixies chained to a keyboard and fed on cheese rind, apricots and dew” -caught my imagination and made me decide to follow you and see what you write!
Thanks James! I hope you enjoy it!
Looking forward to reading your posts! I am so glad to have found a literature blog 😀
Great! I hope you enjoy my future posts too!
As a fellow writer of science fiction and fantasy, I look forward to following you and reading your work! Cheers!
Thanks Jim! Your website is cool too – I can only dream of going to the Antarctic! http://jimmastro.com/
Thanks! It’s still in need of a home page graphic, and there’s a bit of tweaking to do, but it’s almost there.
I love your section on Cryptobiology. As a biologist, I’ve always been fascinated by that subject. I was a member of a cryptobiology society a while ago, and even subscribed for a time to the journal “Cryptobiology.” I don’t know if it’s still in print. I think it’s entirely plausible that mokele-mbembe could exist.
Yeah. Why not? If giant crocodiles can survive for millions of years and still be lurking in the swamps of Africa and Australia, why not some form of dinosaur? I haven’t done anything on cryptobiology for a while, but I do have another blog in the pipeline… I think it’s fascinating!
I nominated you for The Sweet Blogging Award http://thesoundoflaughter.wordpress.com/2013/04/11/sweet-blogging-award-nomination/
Thank you, Sound of laughter! Sorry to take so long to reply but I’ve been around and about this week! I enjoy your blog too. It’s a really nice read!
I’ve nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger award =*)
Cheers!
Hi man,
I have nominated you for a liebster award on my blog.
It’s basically a way to show appreciation for another persons blog.

Hi Alistair, I was new to blogging last year and I guess I have explored hundreds of different blogs over the year – people who live in Spain, writers, photographers, foodies, book reviewers and some I struggle to define! That’s a lot of reading. And you too have read my blog, in its first year, when I was finding my way. So as a big THANK YOU for your support, I’d like to nominate you for the Dragon’s Loyalty Award.
Please click below to read more about the award:-

Please accept this message as a gesture of gratitude, so if you don’t want to follow the award’s rules then that’s fine too!
Many thanks, and Happy Blogging in 2014.
Sandra
Hi Sandra
Thanks for your message! I’m all for dragons as you know! Your blog is really interesting and I enjoy all your articles, although there is no way that I am brave enough to try your recipe for garlic, yes, garlic soup: http://notesonaspanishvalley.com/2013/12/17/garlic-soup-for-a-chilly-night/. Made with ten (!) cloves of garlic!!!
Ah, go for it! Garlic is good for you [and it doesn’t smell, well not too much] SD
I am glad our paths have crossed here today. I look forward to reading more.
Thanks Ann. Your blog is interesting too – (almost) the longest lived person with a pacemaker! That’s incredible.
It’s incredible, Alistair, that I encountered the longest living person through .. this blog. Another incredible encounter (like this one!).
Hey there, Alastair! Just popping by to say hello and to apologize for not coming by sooner for a chat after your unveiling of Duke’s pictures. Again, those truly are very well done. It was nice to see one again today.
Looks like a fine drink you have there! What is it? Mostly tequlia for me, but a nice ale from time to time suits a certain mood. And when that doesn’t, go straight to the vodka or gin, I say. 🙂
Enjoy your day! Great to finally meet you and have a look around. I shall relieve you from replying any more than you have to, but I do want to have a sincere look around over our holiday weekend.
Cheers,
Audrey
Hello Audrey! I hope you’re enjoying Thanksgiving. I was lucky enough to be invited to a family thanksgiving dinner when I lived in PA and it was wonderful. I seem to remember the Detroit Lions were playing on TV… It was the pumpkin pie that I liked best.
That drink in my hand is a pint of Guinness, which I am drinking in a pub in Oxford, all in the name of research, you know!
It’s a pleasure being here!
Thank you!
